Hiya! Fáilte chuig mo Bhlog!! Welcome to my Blog! For ages I've avoided writing a "Blog" - even the use of the word was anathema to me -it sounds so unlyrical, ugly, even - and so I (perhaps foolishly, perhaps, snobbishly) resisted until, finally, I realised it was akin to holding out, Canute-like, against the use of the word "cool" or the wearing of hugely baggy trousers by young people...And so, here I am, contrite, humbled, writing on my Blog page. Oh, how the mighty have fallen...

I’ve been out and about on the hillsides of the West and South-West of this beautiful Isle over the past few weeks, so I haven’t been able to keep up as I’d like. The Walking Season kicked off in Corca Dhuibhne
(West Kerry, or, the Dingle Peninsula)
and Uíbh Ráithe (or, the South Kerry: Killarney/Ring of Kerry area)

followed by Co. Clare’s fabulous Burren (see Haiku of the Week for word-images)

and on to West Co.Galway and Connemara, where, amazingly, we enjoyed great weather!

In fact, there seemed to have been a hole in the clouds above our sun-bleached heads, literally following us around for the whole time!
After that, I nippped up to glorious Co.Down and the magnifcent Mourne Mountains
to do a little filming for a new tv series due out in the Autumn on TG4. It was a great experience. Presenter, Philip Campbell and his excellent Tobar Productions team really put me at ease and the whole thing ran smoothly and easily. I found myself talking about goats and goats’ whey and goats’ whey-nots! (kidding!!) The weather even helped out, by not being too capricious (ok, that’s enough goat-related puns) Watch your screens this Autumn for Taisce ár dTuaithe on TG4.
